Blogsy

Seems a pretty cool app for blogging. I'm doing this post from the bus while listening to Game of Thrones from Audible.com. Good times.

iPad 2 Question

Why hasn't anyone come out with iPad organizer cases? It needs to be usable as an addition to the traditional meeting note taking folio paper pads. Booq has one but it comes in crappy colors. I want something plain like an olive green canvas. You know, something to make owning and using an Apple product not so hipster. How about turn it into extreme hipster and convert some old military surplus item into an organizer and selling it on etsy (Apple's autocorrect didn't know what etsy was???). Another option might be a case with the standard three hole punch mounts on the side. The iPad could then go into any folder, even a super cool Trapper Keeper.

Running

I hit the streets tonight, 5k in 29:30.  While cleaning out my bag this morning, I found a bunch of magazines were weighing it down.  One of them was a Runners World.  It was a pretty good issue highlighting a bunch of people working on breaking time marks on the half marathon.  I would never enter to fail at the marathon but I might run 13.1 miles on my own for time.  Under 2 hours seems like a reasonable goal.  It's now on the list.

I use the Nike+ setup with my iPod Nano and really like it.  The way it keeps up with and will give you stats about your run in real time is awesome.  I also love how it keeps track of all of that info on the website.  It could use a few features though.  One is the ability to embed or link to your runs on the site.  Posting them here or even on Facebook would be a neat way to advertise progress and trash talk.  By trash talk I mean put things up about how well I did so I could read them back to myself later.  No one else would read it but it would still look cool.

Food Rock Bottom

I hit it last night. Kfc's 20 hot wings for $10 deal ruined my wee morning hours. Burying my head in the pillow trying to keep from puking for an hour is as bad as it gets for my iron gut. Today it's back to work and back to watching what I put in my mouth.

This should have been where I posted pictures of the carnage. The pile of clean bones from 20 chicken wings is pretty impressive and makes me queezzy to think about. I so need a new phone with a better camera. Maybe something awesome will come out of CES and the boss will somehow feel pity for me...doubt it.

New Years Resolutions

I just have a few and they are mostly the usual ones that everyone makes.  Here they go:

  • Post here more often.  It shouldn't be hard to beat last years post count of around 3 posts but I would like to get in the habit of posting at least twice a week.  It's a way of holding myself accountable for the resolutions I'm making now and keeping the rest of my life in check.  If I'm putting it on the web it must not be that bad. Hmm, thinking about it that way, I may suggest coworker takes this resolution.  Dilbert has set the precedence for imposing resolutions on others with yesterday's strip.

    • Run a marathon.   I would like to do the 2012 Ironman in the Woodlands but running a marathon is probably first.  Maybe I should try for a half Ironman... Nah.  I'll stick with the marathon.  The trick is to find one close to home that is taking place in the fall.
    • Loose weight.  This is the standard resolution but the fewer pounds I have too carry, the easier it will be to make the 26.2 mile challenge.  165 is a reasonable goal weight.
    • Take more pictures.  I can post them here.
    • Be nice. Let's keep this in the realm of possibility.  When I say "be nice" I mean "be nicer."  Baby steps.
    In other news.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton shakes hands with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday.
    I'm just saying...

I better get ready for spin class.  This is my first physical exercise in a month so it should be interesting.  Especially since I'm teaching it.

    Happy New Year!

    I Hate People

Considering there are probably less than 50 people in the world that I like it is a safe generalization that I hate people. Example from today; I met some new people after they rear-ended me at a stoplight. They had no insurance and probably just stole the car. I hate them.

    Best Slogan Ever

I wish I knew what company this guy worked for. Last week this maintenance truck was stopped in front of me at a red light and I had to get a picture of it. With that slogan on the front, he could sell t-shirts all day long.
