3 Things

I read this in a series of books and have wanted to start it ever since. A little girl took apprenticeship with a school of assassins and this was one of her daily tasks. She had to report 3 things she learned that day to her teacher. No matter how small, all information is power....I think this was part of the lesson. Maybe I'll listen to the books again....

1. Don't trust anyone you work with.
2. Hummus can be green.
3. If you drop your iPod while running on the treadmill, let it go (learned the hard way).

Still Running

So far the Nike+ thing sucks.  I haven't given up on it but nothing is working right.  It's been more frustrating than actually running.  Wednesday night I took it to the gym and ran with it on the treadmill again.  The treadmill said I did 4.25 miles and the Nike+ still had 1km to go on my 5km run I had set it for?!?!  I wanted to throw it across the gym.  Maybe tomorrow I will try to calibrate it to see if that helps.

Yesterday I worked out sans the Nike+ and did 5 miles in 44 minutes and 33 seconds on the treadmill.  Thats within the starting goal and I think I can keep that up on the treadmill.  The pavement is another story.  I am still scared of the street after my last couple of outings.  My knees were killing and I felt twice as beat as working out in the gym.  The heat probably plays a big part in that but the cement is a huge part too.  Maybe losing a bit more weight would help.  If I can keep up the 5 mile runs a few times a week, that will certianly happen.

Nike+

John gave me a Nike+ thing for my birthday. It works by putting this little puck on your shoe and plugging the receiver into your iPod. My first time using it was a couple of days ago and I had it all messed up. After about 10 minutes of messing with it and my iPod I finally got it started. Then it only counted about half my run and never talked to me. Tonight I took it to the gym and I think most of the kinks have been worked out. I still don't think it is counting all of my run but it's something and it talked to me too.

Double bonus was running on the treadmill at the gym. I was able to do a 5k in about 35 minutes. The treadmill is going to be my friend for a while until I get better at running. It's a pretty good start and a really good workout. Running is freaking hard!
